Word of the Day

"Don’t gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. ~Micah 7:8

Call Me Crazy

Over 2,000 years ago, not too long after Jesus was resurrected from the dead and ascended to heaven, the Church was birthed and exploded as the Gospel (good news of Jesus) began to catch fire. The Church multiplied and grew beyond Jerusalem and it was in the town of Antioch (modern day Turkey) that believers were first called Christians (followers of Christ).

Fast forward to 2014. The Church is still going strong and the message of Christ is still being preached and received around the globe. The persecution against Christians is also picking up the pace as we live in a culture that demands tolerance and hates Christians simply because we believe the Bible. Let me encourage you with the words of Jesus: “If the world hates you, remember they hated me first.”

It’s not popular to be called a “Christian” today in America. So be it. I will forever be unashamed to call myself a Christian because a Christian is a follower of Jesus. Go ahead, call me crazy.

6Christian, sermon series, crazy, tolerance,

Consider this your invitation to get crazy with us this weekend (SAT @ 5pm & SUN @ 9:30 & 11am) at RockChurch as we kickoff our new series. #CallMeCrazy

6sermon series,

Quote of the Day:
“The difference in winning and losing is most often…not quitting.” ~Walt Disney

Scripture of the Day: Luke 9:62
But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”
Today’s Scheduled Bible Reading: Psalm 119
Take the time to read this. Yes, it’s the longest chapter in the Bible but you will be inspired to keep going onward and upward.

Word of the Day:
If you took time to read today’s Scripture of the Day then you probably felt the weight of the words Jesus spoke regarding looking back. I believe the implication here is more than simply looking back. Jesus is warning us not to turn our back on Him. While it’s true that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us, many people walk away from Him. Being a Christian isn’t easy, especially in today’s American culture. Stay strong. Don’t quit. Don’t walk away. Apostle Paul reminded us to forget what’s behind and focus on the goal. You’re not defined by your past. This is a new year! Let’s focus on Christ.
